Membership FAQs

We know that joining a professional society is a choice and we believe that the AIUM is the best. Sure we might be a little biased, but we are the only professional society solely dedicated to medical ultrasound and hyper-focused on helping medical professionals improve their knowledge, skills, and network. Individuals who join the AIUM tend to stick around and continue to benefit from quality research, top-notch education, and a worldwide network of colleagues ready to help!
The AIUM is focused on quality ultrasound. If you are passionate about medical ultrasound as an effective tool to improve patient care and you are someone looking to improve your knowledge, skills, and network—then the AIUM is the only professional society you should join. If, on the other hand, you are just looking to just collect CME credits then another professional society may serve you better.
We could tell you all that the AIUM has to offer, but the benefits of membership are a direct result of your action and interaction. We can’t make you earn a CME credit. We can’t make you read cutting-edge articles. We can’t make you attend an event or webinar. Only you can do that—and we hope you do. If you want to learn more about how to get the most out of your membership, check out this page.

We certainly hope so—especially if you are passionate about medical ultrasound and want to improve your knowledge, skills, and network.

To check on your membership status, simply log into your AIUM account. Once you log in, just check in the box that says “My Membership”—all the relevant information is there, including your membership paid through date.

The AIUM offers a yearly membership that gives individuals 12 months of service and access from the time they join. The only requirement to join is that you are passionate about medical ultrasound.

Yes. All members are eligible for membership auto-renew, but you must have a saved payment type on file in your online AIUM account and you must opt-in to the automatic membership renewal program.

To opt-in, you must save a payment type (credit card or E-check) and check an authorization box within your account for membership auto-renewals. You can add, update, and save your credit card to your AIUM account here

You will be notified 30 days in advance of when we will charge your card for your renewal date. If the charge is successful on your renewal date, you will receive an email receipt. If the charge is declined, you will receive an email notification. Once opted in, you can opt-out of automatic renewal anytime.

Read the terms & conditions of automatic membership renewals.

No, you do not have to be on an automatic membership renewal plan. If you do not wish to sign up for auto-renewal for your annual membership, we will still notify you via email and postal mail when your membership will expire. You can renew your membership online by credit card, by calling AIUM Member Services, or by sending a check by mail.

The AIUM does offer a retired membership rate as well as Group Membership rates. To learn more, email us.
