Course Overview

The goal of this one-day course is to provide participants with advanced, focused training in REI ultrasound techniques to enhance diagnostic accuracy and clinical decision-making in reproductive medicine. Through hands-on and didactic learning, attendees will develop increased knowledge needed to assess ovarian reserve, recognize and manage gynecological pathologies, evaluate uterine anomalies, and diagnose pregnancy complications, all while integrating cutting-edge ultrasound techniques into their clinical practice to improve outcomes in fertility treatments and early pregnancy care.

Dr. Detti is the Division and Fellowship Director of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Baylor College of Medicine and the Chief of Reproductive Endocrinology Services at the Pavilion for Women at Texas Children's Hospital, in Houston, Texas.
She has been interested in early pregnancy and gynecological ultrasound for more than 20 years and has published her research in peer-reviewed journals, including the JUM.
She is the current Chair of Imaging in Reproductive Medicine Special the Interest Group for the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and is part of the Task Force UPAC and the secretary of the Gynecologic Ultrasound Community at the AIUM. She is also an Associate Editor for Human Reproduction and is a member of the ACOG Editorial Board for the congress’ educational publication PROLOG.
She has taught several ultrasound courses for ASRM, AIUM, Baylor College of Medicine, Cleveland Clinic, and the University of Tennessee.
Her main ultrasound interests are:
- Hysterosonography for detection of cavity and tubal abnormalities
- Endometrial pathology
- Diagnosis of Mullerian anomalies with specific interest in uterine septum diagnosis and management
- Early obstetrics markers for prediction of pregnancy loss
Lauri Silver Hochberg, MD, FACOG, FAIUM

Associate Professor and Division Director of Gynecologic Imaging

Dr. Hochberg is an Associate Professor and the Division Director for the Gynecologic Imaging Division for the Department of OB/GYN at University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine. She is an expert in gynecologic imaging and uses transvaginal ultrasound to understand, evaluate and treat many different conditions including adnexal masses, abnormal uterine bleeding, and pelvic pain. Her research interest of using transvaginal ultrasound to evaluate adnexal masses has led her to work on several studies as part of the International Ovarian Tumor Analysis (IOTA) group. Dr. Hochberg is a fellow member of the AIUM and holds the following two elected leadership roles: Vice Chair of the GYN Community of Practice and Board of Governors. She is a member of the International Society for Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinical Standards Committee.
Elizabeth Puschek, MD

Professor and Director, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Fellowship.

Dr. Puscheck graduated from the University of Chicago undergraduate and Washington University Medical School in St. Louis. She did her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Barnes Hospital and Reproductive Endocrine and Infertility fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia.
Following completion of her fellowship, she attained her MBA in healthcare and health administration from the University of Tennessee. Dr. Puscheck is board certified in both Obstetrics/Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.

Goal

This course is designed to improve patient care by learning practical tips in scanning and recognizing pitfalls in the sonographic assessment of joints.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

Assess ovarian reserve with ultrasound.
Recognize and differentiate gynecological pathologies, including various types of fibroids, ovarian cysts, and adnexal pathology.
Identify advanced 3D ultrasound techniques and measure Müllerian anomalies that influence pregnancy outcomes and distinguish bicornuate from septate uterus configurations.
Confidently diagnose endometrial abnormalities that can influence pregnancy outcomes in IUI and IVF cycles.
Acquire increased knowledge in diagnosing early pregnancy complications, such as ectopic pregnancies, missed abortions, and subchorionic hematomas, with precision and confidence.
Explain the sonographic assessment of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), including accurate measurements of enlarged ovaries and identification of ascites.
Describe cutting-edge techniques for evaluating tubal patency and uterine cavity abnormalities using uterine cavity and tubal patency evaluation procedures.
