AIUM Launches Sonographer Grant Program

Jan 3, 2018

LAUREL, MD - The American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) just launched its first scholarship grant program designed exclusively for its members who are sonographers and sonography students.

The program, which is administered through AIUM's Endowment for Education and Research (EER)  and is funded by the American Registry for Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), will award a total of two (2) $500 scholarships to support sonographers and sonography/ultrasound students wishing to pursue additional educational opportunities to advance their professional career.

“We are excited to partner with ARRT to offer sonographers and sonography students this exclusive opportunity,” said AIUM CEO Glynis Harvey, CAE. “Education is one of the AIUM’s core values and this program helps us meet our objective of encouraging lifelong learning while promoting the importance and value of medical ultrasound.”

Applications are being accepted through March 1, 2018. To apply, sonographers and sonography students can visit www.aium.org or go directly to the application form. Applicants must be AIUM members and must submit:

  • A current CV or resume

  • A short essay (no more than 500 words) that answers the question: "How does acquiring and maintaining certification help improve patient care?"

  • A personal statement (no more than 2 pages) that addresses your career and educational goals; how additional educational opportunities will help you achieve your goals; and any professional achievements to date.

All applications will be reviewed by an AIUM task force and recipients will be notified before the end of March. If the winning recipients wish to use the funds to attend an AIUM professional development event (Annual Convention or Postgraduate Course), the AIUM will waive the event registration fee.
