Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the most common diagnostic treatment applications of the HFUS
  • Assess practical charts of major applications
  • Recall the ultrasound patterns of common nail conditions
  • Correlate the clinical and ultrasonographic findings                                                                               
  • Examine ultrasound findings of the most common benign skin tumors.                                                                                  
  • Discuss the use of high-resolution ultrasound for the proper diagnosis of benign skin tumors
  • Describe the sonographic presentation of non-melanoma skin cancer
  • Analyze pre-operative sonographic mapping in non-melanoma skin cancer for identifying the best therapeutic approach
  • Recognize the distinctive patterns of skin inflammation in ultrasound  
  • Discuss clinical relevance of ultrasound in the management of inflammatory skin diseases
  • Review the normal anatomy of the skin correlating with the ultrasound appearance
  • Recognize the main anatomical landmarks of the face
  • Determine the specific ultrasonographic characteristics of the most commons cosmetic fillers
  • Understand ultrasound presentations of common filler-related complications
  • Describe the use of ultrasound-guided hyaluronidase injections for management of these complications
