Event Details

The American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) & Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) are excited to present the Point-of-Care & General Medicine Ultrasound Course.

This course is designed to cover point-of-care ultrasound for generalists. Live demonstrations, simulations, and didactic lectures will be used to provide a comprehensive and in-depth look at how and where medical ultrasound can effectively be used in point-of-care and general medicine settings.

Target Audience

Physicians, advanced practice providers, sonographers, students, and other health care providers who are interested in point-of-care sonographic applications.

Learning Objective(s)

After participating in the activity, you should be able to:

  • Perform basic ultrasound functions to optimize an image and perform cardinal ultrasound motions; 
  • View the parasternal long axis and identify a pericardial effusion; 
  • Differentiate between A-line and B-line patterns in the lungs, and describe their clinical utility; 
  • Perform an ultrasound examination and integrate their findings in the care of the dyspneic patient; and
  • Perform an ultrasound examination and integrate their findings in the care of the patient with abdominal pain.
