Genetics: Remember the Fetal Heart

On completion of this session, participants should be able to (1) describe how echocardiography is currently used in the evaluation for aneuploidy and the role of cardiac and non-cardiac "soft markers" from the perspective of the sonologist and the echocardiographer; (2) identify targets for genetic testing based on a cardiac anomaly diagnosis; and (3) be aware of controversial and unclear aspects of this area in prenatal diagnostics.
