Sonographic Manifestations of Fetal Viral Infection
The aim of this course is to provide an overview of fetal viral infections and the role of ultrasound in diagnosis and management. Key viruses that shall be discussed include Rubella, Parvo 19, CMV, and ZIKA virus. The speakers will present rate of fetal transmission and how it relates to whether it is a primary maternal infection or not and based on which trimester the fetus is exposed to the virus. There will be a discussion of the sensitivity of ultrasound as well as the limitations. In addition, the role of ultrasound in fetal diagnostic as well as therapeutic interventions, where applicable, will be discussed.
